When the history of ice cream in America is written, chances are it will fall into two eras: \u00a0Before Jeni\u2019s, and After Jeni\u2019s.<\/p>\n

The Jeni in question is Jeni Britton Bauer, who in 2002 opened her first Jeni\u2019s Splendid Ice Creams in Columbus, Ohio.\u00a0 Today, just over ten years later, Jeni\u2019s Splendid has ten retail locations, wholesale distribution coast to coast, $1 million in online sales, and countless raging fans.\u00a0 And?\u00a0 They\u2019re just getting started.<\/p>\n

Not Your Average Ice Cream<\/b><\/p>\n

There\u2019s no better beginning to the Jeni\u2019s story than a fast-forward, right to the end.\u00a0 As I chatted with Britton Bauer this past March in her light-filled, subway-tiled Short North location, we were interrupted shortly after we began.\u00a0 \u201cYou\u2019re super busy,\u201d a gentleman said, apologetically, \u201c[but] I want to thank you<\/i> for your product, and your business model.\u201d\u00a0 His gratitude was palpable, his enthusiasm so keen he could have been an actor paid to deliver lines.\u00a0 He wasn\u2019t.\u00a0 He was, he went on to explain, an accounting instructor from three hours upstate who case-studies Jeni\u2019s in his classes, and who packs a cooler whenever traveling to Columbus to hand-carry his kids\u2019 favorite flavors back home.<\/p>\n

This is devotion.\u00a0 This is success.<\/p>\n

This is not your average ice cream.<\/p>\n
